On 20 February 2017, Prof Erika de Wet (SARChI Professor of International Constitutional Law) gave a public lecture entitled ‘Military Intervention by Invitation in the 21st Century’ at the Ruby Auditorium, CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria.

During her lecture Prof. de Wet focussed in particular on (the implications of) African state practice pertaining to military intervention by invitation and compared it to that of other regions. Since 2010 military intervention by invitation has proliferated notably in Africa and the Middle East.
